CHARITY EVENTS

2010

In conjunction with the Drifters Dance Group we have been involved in some small charity events. These have unfortunately had to be cut back since leaving the Railway Club.

We have had two evenings for the Barrow Branch of the Distonia UK charity in September 2009 and January 2010. Money was raised on both occasions by a tombola, Guess the Name of the Cuddly Toy, and also by donations.

At the end of February 2010 we held an evening for the Barrow Branch of the British Heart Foundation. This was at the request of Jean Edmondson, a volunteer in the Barrow shop and was in memory of her husband, Fred, The Sundance Kid, whose Birthday was remembered with the shootout for the Fred Edmondson Memorial Trophy

On similar lines to previous ones £450 was raised and a cheque was presented to members of the Branch at the April night. Further charity nights will be held later this year for both Distonia UK and Cancer UK.
