 ABOUT US

Western Express was formed to bring top quality live Country music back to the Railway Club after a long absence. Our first event in February 2001 was low key, but since then we have moved on to bring some top quality Country and Western acts to Barrow from the North West, North East, London, Salisbury and even the Isle of Wight!.

We aim to provide something for all country fans, as well as live music we have line dancing, shootouts and our own resident DJ!!!!

Everyone is welcome to attend and we look forward to seeing some new faces at a future event.

Following the closure of the Railway Club at the end of July 2008, Western Express now has a new home at Hawcoat Park Sports Club (Formerly BAE and Vickers Sports Club) on Hawcoat Lane and we hope to see you all at our new venue

ABOUT THE ORGANISER

Alec has been line dancing for around fourteen years and has also previously organised Country and Western events in Barrow. As President of the Railway Club he decided to re-introduce Country and Western nights as an extra means of bringing revenue in to the club. Alec is a railway-man through and through having served the industry for 44 years, latterly in the Civil Engineering Department in Preston. The line-dancing and C & W nights are an ideal way for him to get out from under his wife's feet !!!!
